Contempt

Gene Reah Tucker

I know you’re there
I lie under the sting
of your cold vapid stare
The pressure emitted
by your bland and banal glare
Horrors inconceivable
that lay my body bare
You are evil and immoral
but you have no care
I could resist or rebel
but I do not dare
You deliver your torture
with a racy hellish flair
The blood red ice that is your stare

Am I dead to you?
Lifeless and blue?
A bird that never flew?
A friend you never knew?
A child that never grew?
